A strong budget alternative to the Canon EOS 250D
If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly DSLR, the 250D is the best option you can currently buy from Canon. Superior to the cheaper 2000D and 4000D, it sits between those models and the now aging Canon 800D. Canon’s best-budget EOS digital SLR camera, the Rebel SL3, also known as the EOS 250D, despite its small size, also combines a strong feature set with excellent handling. The Nikon D3500 (see above) is even smaller, but it lacks this camera’s foldable LCD screen, which is particularly useful if you want to shoot videos (or selfies). Canon EOS 250D also adds 4K recording to its now-discontinued predecessor, although this is cropped and the roller blind is often noticeable. Still, it offers nice JPEG files, an excellent 1,070-shot battery life, and compatibility with a wide range of EF lenses and other accessories that most mirrorless cameras lack. If those features are at the top of your camera’s wish list, then this DSLR for beginners is still a compelling choice.
